Christian membership refers to the state of belonging to a local church congregation, which in most cases it simultaneously makes the person a member of a Christian denomination and the universal Christian Church. Membership in a given church is voluntary and is developed by willing participation in the mission and ministry of the church.

Membership is not the same as being born again or being “saved”.

Membership is belonging, salvation is being adopted into the kingdom of God through a confession of sin and faith in Jesus Christ and his finished work on the cross. When you accept Christ as your Savior, you become a member of the body of Christ.
